Selfmadegod web store open for your pleasure!

Since 2001, Polish heavy metal label Selfmadegod has made a name for itself by releasing nothing but the most extreme, brutal and uncompromising heavy metal. Of course, the country of Poland has long enjoyed a solid reputation among heavy metal aficionados, and Selfmadegod has built upon their homeland's love of all things metallic to create one of the most exciting labels in the genre.

After all these years, Selfmadegod has finally opened a U.S. based website and store, so that you can satisfy your lust for the heaviest of metal without having to wait weeks to get a package o' goodies imported from Poland. The label's new distribution deal will also place their albums in Hot Topic and Best Buy stores, thus completing Selfmadegod's assault on these shores. Check out the label's new webstore and you'll find bands like Hirax, Antigama, Catheter, Dead Infection and others...whether you're looking for metal, grindcore, hardcore, extreme punk or experimental noise of the most ear-shattering nature, Selfmadegod are the guys for you!

Samothrace tour dates announced....

Lawrence, Kansas doom-metal mavens Samothrace have a lot to be happy about – the band will release its debut album in October, and they'll be on the roar touring in support of said disc through the end of the year and solidly into the next.

Titled Life's Trade, the album features four slow-burning, white-hot tracks that feature, quoting the label's press release, "the melodic interplay of guitarist Bryan Spinks and Renata Castagna is distinct in doom played this heavy and each song is meticulously crafted for maximum emotional impact." Sounds worth checking out, either in your local club, or at your indie music store (or both).

Guitar God Yngwie Malmteen to release new disc!

Guitar god Yngwie Malmsteen will be releasing his first new album in three years when Perpetual Flame hits the street on October 14, 2008. Released on his own independent Rising Force record label, Perpetual Flame also represents the debut of Malmsteen's new vocalist, former Judas Priest/Iced Earth frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens.

The twelve-song, 70-minute album was produced by Malmsteen and aside from Owens, also includes the talented keyboardist Derek Sherinian and drummer Patrick Johansson. The guitars, of course, come courtesy of shredder Yngwie, who also throws bass, keyboards and vocals into the mix. Malmsteen will be touring throughout the month of October in support of Perpetual Flame, and we have the tour dates below!

In addition to the new album and tour, the Fender Custom Shop will be releasing a limited-edition Yngwie signature guitar in November. Word on the street is that we'll also be hearing about new reissues of classic Malmsteen albums sometime in the near future. Stay tuned....
